Due to the current sabre rattling between the U.S., Russia and China, now might be a good time to consider survival scenarios. The following article explains why large cities are the most dangerous places to be if the country devolves into chaos.
“When it hits the fan America’s population centers will explode in violence, looting, and total breakdown of law and order.
It’s a theory put forth by numerous survival and relocation specialists, and one that makes complete sense if you consider what happens in a truly serious collapse-like scenario.
Survival Blog founder James Rawles calls them the golden horde: “Because of the urbanization of the U.S. population, if the entire eastern or western power grid goes down for more than a week, the cities will rapidly become unlivable. I foresee that there will be an almost unstoppable chain of events:
Power -> water -> food distribution -> law and order -> arson fires -> full scale looting”
In his recent documentary Strategic Relocation, retreat expert Joel Skousen echoes Rawles’ warnings: “The number one threat that I concentrate on. It’s not terrorism, it’s not natural disaster, it’s not even government or war.
The major threat is population density. Because every crisis that threatens, even a local crisis, can turn exponential because of close proximity to people who cannot help themselves. Even good people panic in a crisis…”

Note how this meshes perfectly with what I’ve been saying for years about finding a rural area with minimal building codes and suitable soil and climate for growing your own food.
It’s difficult and soon to be impossible to build what we want on our own land.
Our food is full of pesticides, herbicides, hormones, and GMOs.
Clean water without lead or other toxins is more scarce than ever.
Terrorism, both foreign and domestic, is the norm.
Another world war is almost certain to begin in the next 4 years, probably nuclear.
My grandchildren probably won’t have a world to grow up in. There won’t be any safe places. Even the remote places will have some unstable person ready to panic at any moment and hold my grandchildren gunpoint under the pretense of protecting some crumbs of food, or satisfy some unspeakable perversion.
Some fertilizer hitting a fan?
Considering the number of diapers I’ve changed over the years, I’m used to dealing with poop. Some flying poop would be a welcome luxury vacation from the life we are currently living.
I’ll just clean whatever poop flies in my direction, scoop it up and compost it.
What’s the big deal?
We are already in the nightmare, and it will only get worse unless and until people learn to get along with each other and work together. Just like the good book teaches us.
Some places are definitely worse than others. Have you heard about the currency crisis in India? Oh my. The government suddenly ‘pulled’ the two main denomination bills — 500 and 1,000 rupee notes (about $7 and $15) ostensibly to help get rid of the black market. (While the fat cats at the top who do the big scams go unpunished.) This amounts to about 90% of the currency suddenly being worthless. People are now waiting in huge lines at ATMs and banks. Millions of people will probably lose their jobs and businesses. It might drastically cut tourism. This is just a quick summary. Check online for more details if interested.
As far as the food: Yep. That’s why we’re starting to grow our own. Even the outrageously expensive organic produce in the best supermarket in our area is often wilted and bland tasting. Screw that. Homegrown is WAY better. Move to an area where you can grow your own food!!!
Similar thoughts – from an environmental and economic perspective – have also been made today by the UK commentator George Monbiot. As someone who follows both blogs, I find it concerning that two respected commentators in different parts of the World are reaching similar conclusions simultaneously. If the moderator here ( after peer reviewing George’s article, of course ) will allow the publication of his link, fellow blog readers may like to read it at :

Thank you.
I’ll read the article shortly. Thanks for contributing.
Great! Now I just need a nuclear target and fallout zone map that’s been made since the 70s, and hope that we only get into a trade war that destroys the economy!
I think I just depressed myself again.
Nuclear fallout maps are free online. There’s also a free nuclear survival manual online that’s supposed to be real good. Personally, I’d say a trade war/depression/economic collapse scenario is the greatest threat. You can prepare for all of these problems and greatly increase your survival level. Being prepared also reduces stress and boosts confidence.
I hear you!
