I just got this email from Luke who’s been doing our Earthbag/natural building Facebook page. Please email me or leave a message if you can help.
Update: No more inquiries please. Already five people have written. I just realized we failed to mention this was a volunteer position that takes about 5-10 minutes per day. It’s just a matter of copying and pasting some text from this blog to facebook. Maybe some thought it was a regular job.
Owen, I’ve been really slacking on the facebook page. Since it’s creation in 2011, I’ve enjoyed posting things for your page so that others on facebook could enjoy it as well. My career & personal life have taken several turns since & leaves me unable to continue to post every day. I’m just not on facebook that much anymore anyway.
What I’m saying is that I love the blog, but I need an assistant administrator for the facebook page to keep it going. If you know of anyone who is willing to help out, that would be great! I’m happy to say that the page has grown to over 3 thousand in the past 3 years, but I want to continue to see it grow.
Thanks very much for the time that I’ve been able to be part of this incredible and fun experience.
-Luke
You don’t need a human to copy and paste your blog to Facebook. There are several free wordpress plugins that do that.
Alternatively, you can use a free service like ifttt.com that can read in your blog’s RSS feed and post directly to your facebook page: https://ifttt.com/recipes/5503-feed-to-facebook-page
Yeah, someone recommended a plug-in yesterday. That’s probably the route we’ll go, thanks.
Hi Owen, I’m interested in the Facebook admin role. I am in the UK & a long term follower of your blog, permaculture enthusiast & found your work while researching low cost building techniques for my long term interest in affordable housing. I’ve experience in running social media and also web video. I’m doing a part time MSc in Sustainable Rural Development at the University of Highlands & Islands in the Outer Hebrides. I hope to develop a thesis (documentary long term) on affordability through low cost and true self build techniques. Also interested in sustainable tourism !
Best wishes
Rose
Very good, thanks. I’ll send your contact info to Luke. That’s already three good leads.
Hi Owen I bought. Cabin plan from you yesterday and you send me files and tried to open it,but somehow I pressed something wrong and I accidentally deleted you email and files with cabin plan, can you send me again please? Thank you, Jan jasinski
Okay, I just resent them.
Very interesting, I have looked for you on FB, but not found you. I would guess I cannot qualify to help!
Hi Owen,
You can get a plugin for your website so when you post to the blog it will automatically post it to your facebook as well. That will keep the face book updated then you just need someone to act as the admin.
Thanks. Sounds like a good idea. We have an admin. We’re looking for someone to manually repost some of the content. A plugin might do the job.
I’d be interested in assisting with the social media. I’m a veteran designer/novice developer, computer science student looking for a part time role. And as I’m also a permaculture and sustainability geek of a home-owner… I’m more than familiar with the material. What’s specifically required of the assistant?
This position is to help maintain our existing facebook page. Basically all you have to do is copy and paste part of the story on our blog and put it on facebook. Click the link in the blog post and take a look. Email me if you’re interested.
