“Derek “Deek” Diedricksen (author of “Microshelters” and “Humble Homes, Simple Shacks”) tours a tiny house (converted from a garage) in Portland, OR. This airbnb rental house has full stairs to its loft, a great little kitchen, bathroom, and more- as you’ll see in this tiny house tour. This particular house is also featured in Deek’s “Microshelters” book on small homes, cabins, tree houses, and backyard offices.”

This looks to me like one of the best tiny houses I’ve seen so far. It looks very cozy and livable. Again, I’m often surprised with all the unique features people come up with. For instance, note the sink/stove/refrig unit by Acme, and the dresser drawer unit used in the kitchen. It’s beautiful!
I always enjoy reading the comments below the videos. Cynthia WithLove left a comment that said, “Fantastic house hack! Buy a house, build this in the back, rent the house and live for free while building equity. Love it!” Great idea.
Hmm. I think I’ll do more stories like this. Garage conversions are affordable, diy friendly, suitable for urban homesteading, sustainable, and all around a good idea. Let me know if you find some really good projects.
This garage remodel to a home office looks pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDWVlOPToSc
