Adobe Geomesh Success Stories

β€œAn introduction to the success of implementing adobe geomesh into Peruvian communities affected by earthquakes. The communities have welcomed the technology and have a greater sense of confidence of their buildings.

The video was developed as a part of the project “Development of communication materials and training methodology for the construction of seismic resistant and healthy adobe houses in seismic areas”, financed by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) and developed by a multidisciplinary team at the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).”

    • There are numerous ways of reinforcing earthbag walls — post and beam, rebar pinning, buttresses, build round and curved shapes, etc.

  1. Imagine how much stronger earthbags would be if you used barbed wire between courses, rebar pins down through the wall especially next to doors and windows, reinforced concrete bond beam PLUS the geomesh on both sides tied together through the wall. That would be off the charts.

  2. This super simple, affordable mesh reinforcement provides off the chart earthquake resistance as shown in the video. Jump ahead to 2:35 to see the shake table test if you’re in a hurry.
