“Sustainable Development – Photos of cob homes that I took on the West Coast of Canada”
I’m a bigger fan of earthbag building because it’s much faster than cob, but the photography and the homes in this video are stunning. You might want to watch this one several times in order to catch all the details. (Did you see the children’s steps leading up to the mosaic sink?) Also, it’s worth repeating for new readers that these homes could be built with earthbags and look exactly the same.
Love the ideas! I agree with your learned opinion Owen, earthbag seems faster and I assume stronger.
Both are plenty strong enough. Earthbag is a little stronger and safer in earthquake zones. Earthbag has loads of other advantages: earthbag (gravel bag) foundations (including insulated foundations), insulated walls http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-an-Insulated-Earthbag-House/ and so on.
