If you spend enough time you can find almost anything now for free on the Internet. Jason has been sending me one good tip after another. He recommended Strawworks.com in the UK for their detail drawings. They’re world famous for their expertise in strawbale building. Visit their site to see their code approved rammed tire foundation detail drawing and other excellent drawings, photos and more. Note: I still prefer gravel bag foundations for their speed and ease of construction, however, it can be challenging getting them permitted in areas with building codes.
“Barbara Jones and her team of Associates have created many beautiful and durable residential and commercial buildings using straw bales and natural materials. Collectively they have been involved in some capacity with more than 300 buildings in the UK and Europe, ranging from tiny garden buildings to the UK’s largest straw bale building to date. People and organisations, across Europe, already benefit from inhabiting these super-insulated, healthy and beautiful spaces.
Rising damp and self draining foundations: car tyres and gravel are non-porous materials that do not allow moisture to wick upwards from the ground. The use of non-porous materials means that there is no need for a damp proof course.”

It’s very good work. I went to their home page and even kept some PDF’s they have for study and possible future use on something. They DO take their work serious and it shows. Thanks Owen.
Their work is highly rated.
