Here’s a response I made to a reader over on the Mother Earth News Blog who said “This type of building for people is not going to readily take off.”
Owen: It’s all a matter of perspective, because over 1/3 (some estimate ½) of the houses in the world fall into this category! This includes millions of simple adobe, cob, stone and thatch dwellings worldwide. Natural building is already taking off. There are many hundreds if not thousands of websites now on these subjects. Look at all the books and videos at Amazon.com. Also, you can buy thousands of back issue articles from top magazines like Mother Earth News and The Owner Builder Magazine. So this isn’t some fringe movement. Like I said in the article, decide within yourself to create a new reality and then… just do it.
Wow, I love the simplicity and elegance of this: “decide within yourself to create a new reality and then… just do it.” That’s exactly right, that’s how it works.
