Natural Building Colloquiums are the largest gatherings of natural builders who meet every year to share experiences, listen to guest speakers, watch slide shows and participate in natural builds. Locations vary between Kingston, New Mexico, Bath, New York, Oregon, and British Columbia. Last year’s event was at OUR Ecovillage in Vancouver.

earthbuilding conference: Earth USA 2011 is the Sixth International Earthbuilding Conference organized by Earth USA (emerging from the Adobe Association of the Southwest).
The conference will take place September 30, October 1 and 2, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico – USA. The conference is being held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center which is an official partner of the event.
Earth USA 2011 indicates a wider field of interest than previous conferences and will include adobe, rammed earth, compressed earth block, monolithic adobe, cob. Any material or method that uses clay as a binder is considered.
I’ve been to a number of similar events. They’re super inspiring. I still remember events like the Natural Building Colloquium (2 times), International Straw Bale Conference and the Colorado State SB Conference almost as if they were yesterday. They’re life changing events you’ll never forget. The colloquiums cover all aspects of sustainable building and include hands-on activities where you can try out the various building systems. If there is a downside, it’s that the colloquiums are almost too much to take in. It’s common for people to say they can’t absorb any more information, their head is about to explode with ideas. The colloquiums are held in beautiful locations and the natural, healthy food is always great. Camping and group meals are available to keep costs under control.
