Remembrance Farms Earthbag Fundraiser
“During eight weeks beginning in January 2015, we will create the first infrastructure at Remembrance Farms. We will be building a twenty foot diameter round building using an exciting technique called “super-adobe” or “earth-bag” construction. This low cost method utilizes local materials and requires only simple tools. The technique can be learned easily and the structures are durable and beautiful. A traditional vetiver thatch roof and rammed earth floor will complete the building.
Greenhouse Construction of the Zero Energy Thermal Mass Greenhouse
“The Zero Energy Thermal Mass Greenhouse solves the problem of freezing weather and a short season climate when you need to grow food. There is no grid connection for heat. It will work anywhere. The two big things that it does best is to allow you to grow transplants to extend your growing season, and reduce the plant maturity days of each crop that you grow. You can also grow summer foods in the winter. It can also be used as a work space to dry vegetables, process honey from your hives, etc.”
Daruma Natural Building
“Daruma Eco-Farm is a sustainable permaculture project located in Bang Phra, Thailand. We offer permaculture design courses, have an artist-in residency program, and are an active member of WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities in Organic Farming), Couchsurfing, and WarmShowers. Volunteers coming to Daruma Eco-Farm can expect to work on anything from planting rice paddies to sustainable construction to assisting our on-site alternative learning school, Mosaic. There are always different projects going on, depending on the season.
