Pisco Sin Fronteras has been at it again, helping people in Peru build homes with earthabgs. This time they have assisted a dirt-poor family with a bed-ridden grandmother move up in the world from living under a tarp to living in a solid earthbag home, complete with doors and windows. You can read about the details of the construction of this project on their website.
I’d like to see the inside of some of these
On their website it said they trucked in topsoil. Topsoil is for growing plants. For earthbags, use subsoil with clay and sand. You want enough clay to bind the sand into hard blocks.
I noticed that too and although I can’t find the page in Spanish to verify my suspicion, I’m thinking topsoil was just a bad translation.
