Tiny Designs – Earthbag Dome from Documentary Shop on Vimeo.
Comments:
– This is a very upbeat video that raises lots of good points. I commend the group for sharing their story.
– Using cob on the outside of a dome (not protected by roofing) can easily cause problems. I would flatten the bags or tubes (tamp horizontally) into a pleasing form as the dome is built and then coat with cement or lime plaster. There’s no reason for cob, which will most likely absorb water through tiny cracks and cause the plaster to crack. Look closely and you’ll see cracks already starting to form. This mistake has destroyed structures in the past.
It’s a very nice video :)
I can’t wait to build my cabin :)
Rock on Owen !
