“A short video presenting First Step Himalaya, NGO who is building a training center for teachers in rural Nepal (Sindhupalchok district). They decided to build with earthbags: an economical, ecological & quick technique.
Earthbag build Nepal is due to start 6th February 2015! This building will provide a training facility for hundreds of rural Nepali teachers hence making a major impact on the delivery of quality education. Be part of the change and volunteer on site in February or early March.
“Hi there,
I am thrilled to say that we have raised an incredible $44,339 for our earth bag build project in Nepal. This means that we can start the project in Feb in Nepal. We are confident that we can raise $60,000 for the project in total. It is wonderful to think that 18 months ago, this was just an idea and now it is really happening.
“We would like to tell you about our very exciting Earthbag build project in Nepal. We are a New Zealand registered charity providing quality early childhood and school support projects in rural Nepal. Our projects have been so successful that we now want to offer training to as many teachers as possible. Therefore, we are constructing an earthbag building Teacher Training Centre in our project area, 3 hours north of Kathmandu in 2014/15. Fundraising is well under way for the project and we hope to be able to start on schedule.
“Dear Owen, I thought I would drop you an email and just let you know our earthbag building in Malawi went very well! I believe it is the only development of its kind in the country. There is a summary of activities at The Mlambe Project website with photos. I am very grateful to you and the website. If there is anything I can do as a thank you- please just ask.”

GMIN has built about 21 schools so far in Nepal out of various materials such as adobe, stone and earthbags. Successful fundraising will enable them to build another 20.
“School #18, Ciuridara, Dang, Nepal
Our volunteer Bidya Bajracharya had surveyed this village last year but could not support them with the required two rooms as they did not have rocks nearby and their mud quality was not good enough to make mudbricks. But after meeting Peter Jensen, also a Denmark GMIN ambassador has come up with the solution of building with earthbags. With this earthbag style we can build even in the most remote areas where there are no rocks and poor quality mud.
