The Saga of Macramé Park

The Saga of Macramé Park is a film made by Ben Van Meter in the early 1970’s in Bolinas, California. It shows how a wonderful and artful playground was built by my older sister, Alexandra Jacopetti Hart, with lots of help from friends and apprentices. They collected driftwood logs on the nearby beach and used them as the superstructure for all of the rope work. I remember her working on this monumental macrame masterpiece; in fact there is a glimpse of me paying on it.

The film has been shown in art exhibitions around the world, such as the Bauhaus Kooperation in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Berlin, Germany; Berne, Switzerland; the NY Musem of Art & Design and the DeYoung in San Francisco, California.
