Email from a reader: Hello, I am trying to put together a design for an earthbag dome built into a hill in New York, and for a few reasons, I would like to have some of it underground. Actually, there are two adjacent domes, one with a diameter and height of 14′, and the other 8′. The frost line here is at least 48″, and I’ll probably go down further.

“July 14th we started a Superadobe studio home as a part of shifting our space to our upcoming land. This is a 550 square feet studio home totally dedicated to a 13 year boy named Adhya Vriksha, who is trying to learn his own way in educating or self learning himself for his mother, family and community. Now we are in 18th day doing this natural building. Within 15 more days we will start living in our new space of mother’s womb.
Msambweni Earthbag Project
“Another project to be carried out in June 2015 is the build of a round earthbag house. The filling material of the polypropylene bags will be on-site soil which makes this construction method literally ‘dirt cheap’. Our County Governor Salim Mvurya and some officers from Msambweni are already greatly interested in the result. During the build people will be on-the-job trained to enable them employing the earthbag construction technique in future undertakings on their own.
